St. Anthony’s High School celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2026 with great patriotic spirit. Though it was raining, our students stood through the programme with enthusiasm and discipline, truly reflecting their love for the nation.
The celebration included the hoisting of the National Flag, National Anthem, pledge, prayer service, patriotic songs, speeches, dances and a skit.
The highlight was the inspiring address by our Chief Guest, Mr. Shankar Madhukar Mugalkhod, Founder and Managing Trustee of Grace Foundation. Speaking from his heart, Mr. Shankar shared his childhood experiences of growing up in extreme poverty in Kamathipura. He recalled facing hunger and hardship and how, at times, he depended on the bread provided by the FMM Sisters on Tuesdays.
His difficult childhood inspired him to dedicate his life to helping others. Through the Grace Foundation, he works for the care and rehabilitation of homeless and destitute people, providing shelter, food and medical support, while also working towards reuniting them with their families. He also runs a Balwadi for underprivileged children in Kamathipura.
Mr. Shankar urged our students to remain humble, care for the poor and share with those who are less fortunate. His most important message was simple and powerful: before becoming successful, we must first become good human beings and true humanitarians.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks, dance and the School Anthem.
It was a memorable celebration that reminded our students that true patriotism lies not only in loving our country, but also in serving humanity.
