“Hard
work and dedication are more important than winning.”
The students of St.
Anthony’s High School truly lived this spirit at the District Sports Office
(also known as DSO) Karate and Kickboxing Competitions held at the Dharavi
Sports Complex.
The school was proudly
represented by Choudary Zara (8th), Khan Faria (8th), Rimi Sangol (9th),
Mumeenah Shaikh (7th), Ayesha Pathan (7th), and Maryam Khan (7th).
On 9th September,
in the Karate event, Khan Faria displayed courage and determination,
winning three consecutive matches and securing the bronze medal, while Choudary
Zara impressed everyone with her skill and confidence, winning six matches
to claim the gold medal. Though some of the others could not reach the
finals, every participant gave their best and gained valuable experience for
the future.
On 18th September,
Zara and Faria also competed in the Kickboxing Competition. Despite it being a
new sport for them, they stepped into the ring with confidence. Faria showed
great spirit, reaching the finals and winning the silver medal in the
Under-38kg category, while Zara fought bravely in the Under-60kg group against
a tough opponent.
The students shared that
they never felt discouraged when they lost, because true success lies in
participation, learning, and the courage to try. They believe that every bout
taught them something new about discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. With her
victory, Zara will now proudly represent the school at the District Level
Karate Competition.
The team expressed
heartfelt gratitude to their Karate Teacher, Ms. Khan Taiyaba, our
school P.E. Teacher, Sir Sevin Rodrigues, and Principal, Sr. Suman
Minezes, for always motivating them and building their confidence to face
challenges with strength and positivity.
