St. Anthony’s High School celebrated the 79th anniversary of India’s independence with a heartfelt display of patriotism, honoring those who sacrificed for our freedom and instilling national pride in the students.
The celebration began with a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony, where the Indian tricolor was unfurled by Sr. Karuna Wilson, former Principal of Villa Theressa High School. The school band welcomed the chief guest with a spirited performance, setting a dignified tone for the event. For the first time, the national anthem was sung in unison by the school band and choir, filling the air with pride.
Students delivered heartfelt speeches to the gathered students, faculty, staff, and PTA members, emphasizing the values of unity and responsibility. Their words reflected on India’s progress while acknowledging the challenges that still hold us back, inspiring their peers to actively contribute to the nation's future.
The day before, a series of patriotism-focused activities were conducted. Students participated in art and craft projects in the virtual space, expressing their thoughts on freedom, unity, and national pride.
A special moment this year was the introduction of the Guides, replacing the Scouts and adding a fresh dynamic to the event.
The day culminated with mesmerizing dance performances depicting the unity and harmony of our secular nation, followed by a moving rendition of the school anthem. The thunderous applause that followed was a powerful reminder of the values we uphold and the aspirations we nurture in our students.
