On
11th January, a group consisting of PTA members, students, teaching and
non-teaching staff, along with the Sisters, embarked on a memorable visit to
the tribal region of Manor, Palghar district. The primary objective of the
visit was to offer support to the tribal communities by distributing essential
provisions, generously contributed by the students of our school.
The
journey began at 6:45 am, with a simple breakfast served to all participants by
the PTA. The three-hour-long journey was filled with laughter, fun, and
entertainment as everyone joined in singing old and new Bollywood songs,
creating a joyful atmosphere throughout.
Upon
reaching the destination, we were warmly welcomed by Fr. Patrick Vaz S.J., who
offered us refreshments before guiding us to a nearby tribal village. Since the
houses were scattered across the area, Fr. Vaz had made all the arrangements
for the villagers to gather at a community centre. The welcome we received was
heart-warming, with women of all ages greeting us with broad smiles and joy.
Although they spoke in their tribal language, their warmth and happiness
transcended the language barrier.
The
villagers sang traditional songs for us, which created a vibrant and cheerful
environment. Our PTA members and students actively participated, listening
attentively and enjoying the interaction.
Provisions
were distributed to the head of each family. It was a touching moment to
witness their heartfelt gratitude, as the joy on their faces was truly
priceless. Despite their limited resources, they generously gifted us fresh
vegetables and papayas from their farms—a humbling gesture that highlighted
their spirit of kindness and generosity
After
spending valuable time with the tribal community, we returned to Fr. Patrick’s
residence. A delicious meal consisting of hot dal, rice, pickles, and fresh
grain vegetables was served. Post-lunch, we engaged in some games and explored
the lush green surroundings, enjoying the serenity of nature.
The
return journey commenced at 3:45 pm, marking the end of a successful and
enriching visit. The experience was deeply inspiring, leaving everyone with
lasting memories of the simplicity, love, and generosity shown by the tribal
community. It was a vivid reminder of the joy of giving and receiving, and the
warmth that genuine human connections can bring.
The
visit was a resounding success, fostering a sense of empathy, gratitude, and
community spirit among all participants. It served as an eye-opener,
highlighting the importance of outreach activities in promoting mutual respect
and compassion.
