Reading Day

The students of St. Anthony’s High School had an enjoyable day as they celebrated ‘the Reading Day’ on 15th October 2018, in memory of our former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who believed that learning never stops. Naturally, the former President was one of the best role models. He was an exceptional teacher, a wonderful motivator, an outstanding scientist and a great President. Dr. Kalam lives in the hearts and minds of every Indian. Remembering him on his Jayanti, the students of St. Anthony’s focused on the fading art of reading among the present generation.
A special assembly was conducted and the Head Mistress Sr. Maria Selvam emphasized that success in life comes only through imbibing knowledge hidden in books. Sr. also emphasized the students to identify the unique ability within them by reading worthy books around them, thus the students got an opportunity to participate in various activities to inculcate the habit of reading. To promote this habit, the school librarian arranged activities like writing book reviews, Poster making activities based on current affairs, reading sessions and many more.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this stress free day as it ignited the minds of the young learners. Since the students of today’s age lack the passion for reading, this initiative taken by the school seems to be instrumental in bringing a positive change. It was indeed an enriching and fun filled day for the students which ended with great satisfaction and success. In tune with the Reading Day, the school will organize a book exhibition on the Open Day.
